Specifications
- 64 WS2812 RGB LEDs (8 × 8), wired row by row
- Every LED individually addressable
- Adafruit NeoPixel library
- The module goes on top of the tower
- Power 5 V, data from a 3.3 V pin
- Current ≈ 50 mA when dark, each LED at full white up to ≈ 60 mA (WS2812 figure). The whole matrix at full white would need ≈ 3.8 A, more than USB can give, so keep the brightness low (up to ≈ 20 %)
- Does not use the I2C bus
- Uses: showing text, status indicators, games
Pins
A jumper on the module switches the pin to IO6, IO7 or IO8, so you can stack several identical modules.
| Pin | Function |
|---|---|
| IO5 | DIN, data for the LEDs |

Example code
Try the example Drawing on the matrix right in your browser in Eduingo AI Lab. Over and over, the LED Matrix shows a heart, grows a circle, fills up with green lines from the left, lets them slide down and then a yellow AHOJ! ("hi!") scrolls across it.
